ident help and search help...

Well... I've been searching for magic for some time now... I'm not sure if I have just overlooked it or what... maybe someone will have some pointers to give me.

I'll post the following two pics only because I have been unable to identify the species... Based on its looks, I doubt that it is anything to get excited about, but I have been unable to find anything that resembles it...

It bruises a dark purple.

I was unable to get a sporeprint... I'm not sure if I did something wrong, or maybe it hadn't produced spores yet.

I'm still learning, so please give any info that may help me find an active species. I live close to the Georgia/Alabama border in the foothills of the Appalachain Mtns. I have mainly searched pastures and a few slightly wooded areas close to streams.

What you have found is in fact the Clitocybe nuda...a choice edible mushroom, found pounds of those this year. The common name is the Blewit, they are a very cool purple color, and tasty too.
