I really love the Atlantis stuff I've seen. I've grown tamps, fruits are fun..stone production is minimal though IME..
Mex B is bad for stones, compared to A, so I'd go between Mex A and Atlantis, personally, Atlantis. Granted I've only tried Tamps of those listed.

Atlantis is producing stones way faster than my mex a. I voted for atlantis going by reports that it is the same potency as mexicana

my favorite strain would have to be the ATL #7 strain of Atlantis. from what i've heard it produces the biggest sclerotia and is smiliar in potentcy to the other species, and its the only sclerotia forming species that i have spores for. never tried the a or b strains of the mexicana species , or tampanensis species altogether.

If I may, I'd like to bring the thread back to life. I feel like there is no consensus about the perfect strain. Atlantis seems to grow fast, but is it the most potent?
Are there some more people, who can give an assessment of the sclerotia strains in terms of
- potency
- yield
- speed of growth

Mex. A for "cleanest" and for some the best trip, ATL for strength and size of stone. Not familiar with the others as well.
Check out the "easier than cubes" thread for lots of talk about that. Lot's of other stuff too haha

Ely, thats exactly the kind of information I'm looking for. So you think ATL has a higher yield than Mex A in addition to being stronger? Seems like that's what I'm trying next .
I just bioassayed my Mex A, and about 11 grams of freshly harvested stones gave a very comfortable, communicative, intensively-music-experiencing, non-hallucinogenic high.
ATL in comparison to Tampenensis, anyone?

This video suggests: - Atlantis is the strongest - Tampenensis is the most pleasant - Jalisco is stronger than Mex A - Mex A is mild and for beginners
But the video isn't well made, and I've heard from some that this company can't be trusted. Any comments? http://www.tampanensis.com/package-i-23.html

OK, I checked out the "Easier Than Cubes" Thread, to gather some information for us:
Quote:
Mexicana sclerotia is my long time favorite as well. It's like a Cadillac compared to cubes being a geo. ... The trip is cleaner, and they don't make you want to puke while you eat them. RR
- but he seems to compare Mex A with Cubes, not with other sclerotia
Quote:
Cervantes: I have found Atl 7 is easier to fruit than Mex A. But IME, Atl 7's trip is nowhere near as clean as Mex A's. ... I like them BOTH. I don't always look for a clean trip. Sometimes I like to be zooted.
I prefer the clean trip of Mex A, but ATL/less clean means it is potentially more unpredictable and fun. (paraphrased) ... Clean IMO, means your trip goes where you want it to go. Unclean means you might go where the fungus wants YOU to go. ... Jalisco is a better stone producer than B... about as good as a tamp. ... ATL 7 is as visual and 'spiritual' as any fungus I have ever eaten. If you are looking for a mind fuck, here's your fungus.
Quote:
I have heard that "B" and "Jalisco" may be easier to fruit. But is "A" cleaner and/or a better "stoner". myceleus_rex
Quote:
Mex A and Atl #7 are reported to be the best stone producers with Tampanensis right behind (tamps have an interesting history of their own).
Jalisco is reported to be a decent stone producer and easy to fruit.
Mex B hardly grows any stones at all, but again, it is supposedly easy to fruit. Cervantes
The Dosage-calculator (http://www.shroomery.org/6257/Magic-Mushroom-Dosage-Calculator) seems to suggest that Mex A sclerotia is about twice as strong as tampenensis. But I generally disagree with its dosage recommendation (Only 6.5 grams fresh Mex A, to get a Level-3 Trip? I don't think so!!). Is tampenensis really that much weaker?
Alright, I stopped scanning the "Easier than cubes" thread at this point. Maybe I'll continue later, maybe somebody else can help summarize the strain-infos starting at this point: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/10862116#10862116

So much info on that thread haha You can read for days and still pick up something here and there. I will try to find it when I have time but towards the end of the thread somebody did a good job of summarizing 70+ pages into a page or two of info. Good stuff!
Basically, Mex A is "clear headed" trip from most reports which makes it a little weak but "clean" so some people look for that. Atl seems to be the strongest trip/effect with the others falling somewhere in between it seems.
Can't wait to do a side by side

I am very interested in this as well, currently have a few rye jars of ATL#7 going strong at 3 months old. Huge stones against the glass. It will be 2 more months before I take em on my virgin sclerotia test drive and will be sure to report back.
In any comparison of stone producers for potency, would it also be important to compare based on age of the stone? I remember reading on the Sclerotia thread that 6 month old stones are more potent than 3 month old stones, etc etc.
I tell ya what though, these ATL#7 spores germinated on fungicide-laced rye. For that, I love em already.
Gotta get me some Mex-A and have a few jars of those running at the same time...

I never wait that long. Just harvested a 450ml (1 pint) jar of rye grass seed and millet mix, and got 107 grams out of it 2 months after inoculation with LC (Mex A). Other jars with other grain and production irregularities produced next-to-nothing though. I still need to find the best fine-tuning.

This is what you want right here:
Quote:
stonesun said: Here's my experience on the matter (on a scale 1-10 10 being the best):
P. galindoi/ATL#7 - stone production 7 - fruit production 8 P. mexicana/Jalisco - stone production 2 - fruit production 9 P. mexicana/A - stone production 10 - fruit production 1 P. tampanensis - stone production 5 - fruit production 9
In other words if I'd want sclerotia only, I'd go with mex/A. If I want the best over all stone/fruit producer, gotta go with ATL#7. Tampanensis being my second choice. With the mex/Jalisco got very few stones but fruited beautifully.
