Hey all,

Can anyone give me a ballpark figure on how much dry mushrooms I can produce monthly in a 28 and 22 galon terrariums combined (in casings; not cakes). Doesn't have to be too acccurate, just your best guess.

Also, due to space restrictions I have to stack my 2 terrariums one on top of the other; and being that the bottom one will not recieve any light due to this would it be a fire hazard if I mounted a small 24" flour. inside the larger terrarium?

Any and all suggestions welcome.

yes it would be a fire hazard, think up something else (how about building a frame that will go in between the terrariums and then put a light outside of the bax mounted on the frame and the second terr. would go on top of the frame..... u get what i mean?). Otherwise you would get around 3-4 dry ounces per month maybe?

Quarts? Pints? How many jars?

That is more important than how big the cases are.

PS- I always assumed putting the light in the terrium wouldn't be safe; I just wanted some opinions. I can't really build a rack for the second terrarium to sit on because right now without it the light for the top terrium is only about 3" from the lid. Any other ideas?

Try a waterproof (or very good sealed) lantern (they're cheap) and tape it inside the terrarium lid, just got to check batteries.
It might work, just an idea....

Thats an idea I will consider. I think it was in this forum I read someone suggested using a string of white christmas lights inside the terrarium. What do you guys think about that? Would it provide enough light? Would it be the right "type" of light?

I've found that mushrooms will grow under any type of light. They are not very pickey when it comes to light. The christmas lights would probably be just fine. I've grown great flushes under minimal lighting.
