Cold Shocking... how long, in a fridge?
    #493793 - 12/17/01 01:21 PM (23 years, 1 month ago)

I've been doing this a while now... tried just about every tek there is. However, for the first time, I'd like to try cold shocking one of my casings.

I've read that putting them in the fridge for 8 hours is the most efficient way to shock. What are some other teks used for shocking?

put the cakes back in teh jar and fill w/ cool boiled water and then refridgerate for 8-12 hrs. obviously this wont work for casings but just make sure its sealed w/ saran wrap or something and dont just stick your casing behind the meatloaf next to the milk.
EDIT
just realized that you specifically said 'casing' (duh) just wrap it up as airtight as possible and refridgerate it. or if its cold tonight leave them in your porch or something if you have too much leftover meatloaf and not enough space in your fridge

Too cold? [Re: Ether_Bunny]

Is it possible to kill the casing if it's too cold in the fridge?

To be safe, would shocking for 6 hours do the trick?
