Something that is very stupid. Our government is the epitome of democracy with balances and checks, yet we won't place a copy in their country. So their new government, a strange mix of parliamentary and dictarship attributes works better for wartime and terrorist situations? I don't understand, we are helping them to attain freedom that we have, yet don't give it to them. It is very hypocritical. Maybe in theory our government works, but when we can exclude certain political parties it does'nt. Communist and Green Party Candidates are excluded from state and local campaigns. Under the law.

nugsarenice writes: "Our government is the epitome of democracy with balances and checks, yet we won't place a copy in their country." America doesn't have the right to do anything other than RECOMMEND that Afghanistan copy the American system of government. America cannot "place" a copy there, and even if it tried to, anti-American zealots would have a field day, claiming that "once again, America is brainwashing a helpless populace" or something along those lines. "I don't understand, we are helping them to attain freedom that we have, yet don't give it to them." Freedom is not America's to give, it is Afghanistan's to take, if they so choose. If the Afghani people choose to install a less-than-free system of government, that is their right. "Communist and Green Party Candidates are excluded from state and local campaigns." The American Constitution leaves such things to the discretion of the indivdual states. Neither Communist nor Green Party candidates are forbidden to run for Congress, are they? pinky

This is'nt the end of Cia backing of attempting to overthrow the nations of the middle east, complying to wealth involving the supply and demand of oil. After Afghanistan's oil, being a tenth of the true value is sold out, and millions of dollars deposited into wealty guirellas and central intelligence arms accounts. there will be increased demand for the overthrow of Iraq. Because. "Information Kills Communism."

If we could install a US-type secular democracy, we would. We simply are unable to force people to live like that if they choose not to. They have no history of anything other than feudalism, so the compromise government we have helped them cobble together is still quite a positive step. Ultimately, they will have to choose their own fate. We can only help as much as they want us to.
