Cold and cubensis do not mix. This is the subtropics. Winter usually might hit upper 40 f. extreme lows. This is Australias summer opposite of northern hemi. Chistmas at the beach, mate. It is not too hot at the moment actually, you are right. It is 11 pm monday and the temp is 69f. summer gets into the nineties in these parts hotter inland.
this would be one of my closer weather stations

Yep, Ballina should be happening if it rains. I have been finding copes since early December and now they are starting to disappear. Finding more cubes now. The pattern I see is that they should return towards autumn. Two weeks within this area it is sure to rain, then you will be in luck. Happy holidays!! Brewin

Hi Brewinb, Well the Copelandia cambodgeniensis are also referred to as 'gold cap' shrooms here in Hawaii.

here are a few images of them.

I am still having computer problems with pixel c9onbfiguration. Myany images I had in folders have been damaged.

So I wont post too many of these guys. Hate the fact that I have to repost the whole files.

Those are gold for sure MJ. I wonder just how many mushies have the local name of gold tops? Any anybody know any more?
Same with blue meanies (here considered copelandia cyans).

Yes GG you can spot those sundrenched beauties from far and moving fast.

Much blue and many yawns as well!

Gotta go

YEs Bwerinb,

I have a book available which lists epithets fgiven to magic shrooms throughout the ages.

It includes nick-names.

"Teonban?catl: Ancient Shamanic and Contemporary Mushroom Names of Mesoamerica and Other Regions of the World."

Other names for Copelandia species includecone heads, blue meanies, gold caps, dimple tops and witches tits.

Of course there are local indonesian names for the shrooms in Bali, Sumatra, Java and Samoa and Bali.

I have names from the 2nd century China and eleventh century Japan as well as African, Hungarian and others.

Its funny - People in Melbourne constantly refer to Psilocybe Australiana - and the lighter coloured Subaeruginosa variants as 'goldtops'
