this is what many mainstream newspapers are calling the California Energy Crisis/Enron Debacle/Bush Energy Policy.
As a Californian I am absolutely pissed about the state of our energy production and infrastructure. Enron's CEOs without a doubt committed a terrible crime by leading the State into energy deregulation and then bailing out when their stock was artificially inflated to nearly 90 bucks a share. The top Execs made hundreds of millions just before the companies demise. Now the companies employees, and the public at large has been left with a shell of a company, entirely bankrupt!
When the Clintons were implicated in some shadey realestate dealings (whitewater) the republican congress was screaming bloody murder. This warrants more than equal attention! For this Bush deserves to be impeached! Not only is Bush neck deep in this scandelous crime, he was one of its main orchestrators. He considerd Lay, Enron's CEO as secretary of energy, his advisors thought it would excentuate the Admins. ties with Big Energy companies too much, absurd! Lay and the Bush Admin worked hand in hand to make a killing in California, but the nation is too obsessed with the War in Afganistan to care. Its very sad that these bastards are going to get away with this shit.

Deregulation is always a good thought for the mainstream public in theory. But seriously, what common business man has time to invest and propagate government contracts for prisons and energy investments. Everyone in California should be relying on solar power by now anyways. Have you seen the new technology that was created, solar power for cold environements, it entails mirror heating of light before it hits the generator, simple, but an easy solution. Not neccesary for California, but maybe for northern regions.

Just a suggestion, but maybe the investigation should begin with not-so-Slim "Shady" Dick Cheney's secret Energy Task Force. It's beginnings are, like everything in Mr. Cheney's public life, very shady, but we know he met with top energy company executives in the first few months of this horrible administration to plot and scheme an energy future for America.
Wonder why he wouldn't let the public in on the plan for their own future eh? Given the way Iraq turned out and how he misused intelligence one can reasonably conclude that his energy plan is equally inept and corrupt.
In short, they aren't leveling with the public and you will get screwed unless you are one of Mr. Cheney's buddies.
