Can they stop growing?
    #493156 - 12/16/01 08:24 PM (15 years, 8 months ago)

Hey all, its been 4 days since I have had about 20 pins form. There are a few that got big within a day, most of them are small, but caps have formed on all but they are really small. I was wondering the time period they usually take from pinning to maturity? I am growing b+, cased with vermic and soil. They seemed like they almost haulted growth for a day, but there is no contams and everything seems to be right. Any suggesstions? Thanks!

keep the temp at around 80-90F, humidity at like 80-90 and fan everyday, they should be fine.

jus keep em growing unless they start to go black or dark blue... that means they're rotting. i had like 100 pins on 3 cakes and they hadnt gotten any bigger than an inch in like 5 days, so i picked everything off and got like 3 grams dry..... it was an EXCELLENT trip.

Lower humidity to between 85- 92% and keep temp between 74-78. If your humidity is too high (near 95%) pins will continue to form, possibly deceasing your potential yield.
So lower your humidity to around 90% and the pins will continue to grow into large fruits, without many more pins forming.

Whoa now! Your fruiting temperature should be between 70 and 74 degrees. No more than 76 degrees. Pick your mushrooms when the caps open, don't wait for them to start rotting. Once the caps open they're not going to really grow anymore. I pick mine once the caps begin to open, mist down the casing, and then wait for another flush.

As far as the small shrooms, make sure your substrate isn't out of food and make sure your casing layer stays hydrated. A dry casing layer will cause small shrooms.
