Results pasteurized/sterilized dung
    #492943 - 12/16/01 02:16 PM (22 years, 4 months ago)

DAY 1 of sterilization

A friend placed 3pounds of organic farm poo(cow) in a PC and sterilized it at 15psi for 30mins then he pulled tha poo out still hot (squeezed water) and put into a receptacle (5gallon bucket) then mixed 5 B+ crumbled cakes with poo.

DAY 1 of pasteurization

Same condition and same day in dwelling, he pasteurized 3pounds of tha poo for 1hour at 160-200F, after done placed into a similar receptacle and then impregnated with the same species B+ both were placed into a dark hole at 82-84F

DAY 3

He checked on both and minimal growth has already started.

DAY 5

Both have doubled in growth but the pasteurized container has exploded and almost covered entire area. Sterilized container has seem to miss certain spots in substrate.

DAY 7

Pasteurized is complete and the sterilized is almost done maybe a quarter sized area to go.
Extreme mycelium growth in the pasteurized container.

Conclusion: Both procedures were easy and easy to maintain in an almost non sterile environment, growth is just as fast as casing and the end results will be better. But in his observation pasteurization is faster and more aggressive growth in tha poo. More condensation was in and around the bucket, witch also constitutes pasteurization seems to hold more water than sterilizing.

perfect!

well, first order of business is then to innoculate some Rye jars and some Millet jars, and once we're ready to case, the poop is always there

I would guess that the pasteurised poo colonised faster because some/most of the ammonia was leeched out of it. The one time I didn't soak my poo in a goodly amount of water during pasteurising, the results were shit (pardon my pun:), and smelled of wee.
