what size casing??

My friend is about to try casing for the first time, unfortunately he's growing koh samuis as his first ever attempt to grow at all and was told they'd do much better in a casing. What size casing would u guys recommend for 2 1/2 pint jars being cased? I'm assuming the material of the casing doesn't matter much, as in pyrex, plastic, aluminum foil, etc. thanks a lot!!!

It needs to be opaque. The bottom of a 1 qt. milk carton is just right for two half pints.

that seems a little small? although i have never done it i had planned on getting some 8 by 8 for 2-3 half pint cakes
