I found that when I started doing e I became amazingly empathatic, to the point that I felt the same sensations my close friends who I was with at the time did (like rushing, getting monged or tired and when they got happy or sad). I still get that ability to some point normaly now ? seems like the e broke certain barriers in my mind. When I do mushrooms (which I much prefer, more natural and ?primitive? in a way ? not as calm and happy, but more personal and energetic. Also the comedown from e really sucks, depression for a few days) I find I can ?smell? (rather than feel, seem to smell out) how people feel, and what they?re thinking.
Sounds weird, but I?m not making this up!

the way i felt on my first mushroom trip :
to the place where everything
sits flowing expanding in and of
itself perfectly still and corrected
moving in silent perfect
equillibrium diving back into
the earth and coming up
and around and out all the
ways i wanted it to
while it all fell down
and the clouds and the
trees and the rain all
sung to me in a percussive
whisper a sharply soothing beautifully
broken melody that
shattered every doubt
i wished i had and
i stood and i saw and
i felt and heard it
as nothing collapsed because
it was all flowing in perfection
and i was a subtle centerpiece
like he and her and every
drop of rain and blade of grass

I heard the "hum" also a sound like trains in the distance but right behind me at the same time... I heard voices but couldn't tell what they were saying and the sound of whistles blowing and screeching... when I tried to eat pizza, it tasted flat... I then noticed these things infront of me that looked like stacks of plastic CD cases except they were about the size of little match boxes... they were in rows-some rows only had one-some had 15 or so ... by moving my awareness to different ones I could change the taste of the pizza! Once the meat topping tasted rancid...yuk!...
....if you ever go rancid...quick!...change to flat again!...

The hightened awareness is probably my favorite part of doing mushrooms. I like the fact that you can just close your eyes and be taken on a journey. The first time that I did them there was little to know extra awareness, but I later learned that it was because I was because I was concentrating on other retarded things like wathching movies and distracting myself. My most recent trip, however, I listened to *great* music, closed my eyes went on said journey and had one of the best times of my life. It was like the mushrooms were teaching me about the world. amazing! I just wish that I could figure out the language that the voices were speaking in.
oh, well I probably sound stupid by now...

When I usually trip there are three of us that always trip together (we have dubbed ourselves The Trinity).  We always know how the others are feeling, what the others are going to say..
We have now developed this ability when we aren't tripping but it developed by tripping together so much.. 
Shrooms/ Psychedelics do expand your mind...
