Bite on a piece of garlic, I heard that works and haven't had a tooth ache to test it on.

If you don't have a cavity you can see, you must have a filling in that tooth that has grown old and has leaks closer to the nerve, OR the tooth may have tiny hairline fractures allowing the cold air to get close to the nerve. Some how someway, cold air is getting into the tooth and it needs to be filled or covered for the pain to stop.

I'd consider going to the dentist and getting an x-ray to determine how its getting in.  It may need a root canal, replaced filling or crown.

They say tooth nerves are the most sensitive of all in the body and will generate the highest Pain Message to the brain. If it starts  getting worse, don't hold off going to the dentist until it gets so bad, you want to grab a pliers and yank it out.

I had one when I was 21 that got so bad through the night, I had taken 6 Tylenol Codeine 3s and my body was freaking numb from them and the tooth ache was still raging.

In the meantime, here's a little trick for when you have to go outside. Soften some candle wax and cover the tooth with it. Works like a charm. If its not to bad, motrin will work too. Clove oil will as well, but its hard to find. That use to be the main ingredient in dental Novocaine anesthetic used decades ago.

Good luck with it!

:peace:

what is clove oil?

ive never had a filling or a cavity, and the tooth is visibly fine, but it feels smoother than normal.

Dude, go to the dentist! Just nip it in the bud.

A checkup is cheaper than a filling, which is cheaper than a root canal, which is waaaayy cheaper than a crown.
I didn't go to the dentist for too long, and ended up getting a root canal and two fillings--lots of $$$ and pain.
