Craziest thing you've seen today.

I was on my way to work, stopped on a red light at a busy intersection. It's fairly windy out and all the sudden I see the traffic light just to the right of me swing to the side and drop right to the ground. It missed two cars by less than a foot. It hit the ground and shattered then all of the lights in the intersection went flashing yellow. That was pretty crazy, the thing could've killed someone.

I've always wanted to see that happen. I've seen lights in high winds look like they were going to fall and I was holding my breath waiting for it but it never happened in front of my eyes.

Seriously? I didn't think it was that windy out...we had 3 trees fall last night tho...
Craziest thing today.....a squirrel sitting on the edge of a garbage can unwrapping a whole muffin that someone tossed and eating it like a person...not so much crazy as cute.

Yea it was nuts, it seemed to fall in slow motion. I just can't believe it didn't hit this one car.

I bet the guy in the car was thinking the same thing too. Someone was looking out for him this morning.

Yea no kidding. I watched the guy get out with shock and amazement on his face looking at the light and then at his car. I was thinking - if that were me i'd pick up the light and drive away. A little momentum to remember the occasion.

Flashing yellow?
That can't be right. You'd have accidents. Did you mean flashing red?

It was most likely flashing yellow on the main throughway visible to him and was flashing red on the secondary intersecting road.

several key intersections in my area have battery backups on the traffic lights that go into flashing red mode in the event of a power outage. up in the big hills power outages can be rather common during the winter.

Yup, I'm waiting for the day I get to see one fall and hit the ground.

If all the lights are off, it's a four-way stop. Everybody here relearned that rule during the Northeast blackout, although they put generators on the really busy intersections.

the craziest thing i have seen today is the jaw-dropping amount of time i have wasted posting here despite the mountain of work on my desk. i have accomplished nothing today. i really should stop posting for the rest of the day.
