Joining song files

I "acquired" some Pink Floyd albums and as each song comes as a separate file I was wondering how to join them back together into album mode. Those 2 second breaks between songs really throws the listening experience off.
I have HJ-split, but can't seem to make it work and doing a search yielded no results. I might just not know which words to put into the search bar...any suggestions?

I don't know what software you're using for playback, but I've found that Xine doesn't introduce gaps between the tracks (like Gstreamer does).
For combining the files, I suggest: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Did you ever get ubuntu installed on your old box?
Did you give up in frustration? Did it go smoothly? Did you just change your mind? Did the computer explode into a great fireball?

Good questions phi1618!! I downloaded ubuntu and well, got kinda sidetracked. I look at the POS every day and somehow the motivation just slips away. I also downloaded XP with the crack and might try it first just to see if the comp. even works without freezing up.
If it does I'll install ubuntu and play around with it...I could always use something else to get addicted to!(just not on MY computer though!!)
Thanks for the site, BTW. I got the albums from torrents.(I use Bitcomet) I want to burn them to Cd's, which I have, but without the breaks between songs.
PS: I will let y'all know how they both turn out.

Well no ubuntu for the POS used computer. XP is installed and it still freezes up after a while and now I can't get the sound to work.(tried several different speakers) I also messed with Audacity for getting rid of the gaps in the song files, but gave up in frustration.
One kid already has a laptop from school, so I'm just thinking about getting a cheapo one for the other kid instead of going with another desktop. Any ideas?

In Nero and k3b, you can set the gap between songs to 0 seconds instead of 2. It isn't a perfect transition but it's much better.

& xcdroast and probably most burning programs.
usually the 2 seconds isn't on the mp3 file itself, but is put there by the burning utility.

Hey Cool! I have Nero, but never use it for song files, only DVD's. I'll check it out.
Thanks!!
