"Crowds are flocking to a Hindu temple on Indonesia's resort island of Bali for a glimpse of an ancient banyan tree which has begun oozing a honey-like substance said to have mystical properties."

Old post but here is the answer. This tree is houndred of years old and people have laid corpses under it. The corpses doesnt start to smell for some reason under this tree and there is the mystic. So no psycoactivity.

So what is the honey? I don't see how what you said makes it not possibly psychoactive

Its consideret holy because the tree is holy . So the honey is a religious honey containing the spirits of the deads or something along that line. Its mystic for those who belive and if any activity at all its placebo based on faith.

Is it like real honey? Or tree sap? I am willing to wager it is not that appetizing, if it was it would attract a lot of animals that would devour the tree.

Has anyone here tried it?
