Animals on shrooms?

This is probably the most Noobish of my questions, but I'm just curious to know what would happen if I gave my dog (and if he did happen to actually eat them) some shrooms? Would he trip, too?
I think it would be pretty funny watching him trip out, or maybe the cats that lay by my car would be even funnier since they're not mine and roam about outside. Would make a nice video.

Judging by the amount of posts i have made i guess im still a n00b but i do know that you should NEVER. A. Dose any drug without a persons consent! B. Give animals human drugs.
Wannna see an animal trip? its called catnip, put it in a toy for a cat if they wanna do it they will.

I'm quite sure animals also would start to trip. I mean didn't Albert Hofmann tested his LSD on cats (or on a cat) and she tripped out? I guess shrooms should work but I doubt that your dog would eat a bigger amount out of his free will. And to give an animal drugs is out of question imho.

This is the part of the rollercoaster where the guy on minimum wage comes by and checks your harness.
You're in for a long ride of people going on tirades about how you're a terrible person and going to hell.
Generally I'd advise against dosing animals... with their lesser intelligence they're likely to merely be bewildered and frightened, but nothing more.
I'd also advise against turning this into another epic thread about whether or not to do this, complete with massive battles of ego and insult. That last one was annoying enough to last for months. (This is a recommendation to the general populace).

Don't dose an animal...they don't care anything about 'tripping balls', you do...give them some affection instead and you eat the psychedelics.

Hallucinogens are around because they offer evolutionary advantages- animals DON'T like to eat things that make them trip, with a few rare exceptions.... like reindeer and amanitas.
You'd feel pretty shitty if you killed your pet too, right?

I tripped recently with some friends (one of whom had a dog) they gave him shrooms and he seemed to "chill out". Dono if I agree with giving them shrooms, but maybe the dogs would eat them from the fields we picked from, themselves anyway.

My cat likes to get high. She smells it and comes running up sniffing around and stuff. She's made the connection between the smell of the smoke and the feeling she enjoys, and she comes up meowing at the pipe and sitting next to you.

Seriously, do a damn search. This has been covered so many times. Heres a summary:
Most of us think it's fucked up. Some of us think it's okay, but not very many.
There are pages and pages of posts debating this issue. Do a search before posting next time.

Generally, it seems like Humans are the only people who seem to seek out hallucinogens on purpose :P
Like horses with Sleepy Grass (LSA), they'll eat it once, then pass out from the sedative effects (wonder if they are tripping also?). Then, they'll never touch it again - it acts as a natural safeguard for the grass, and the horses dont really like what it does to them, thus they dont touch it.
and really, why would you waste perfectly good drugs on your pets? I'd rather eat that extra mushroom myself instead of giving it to a dog :P

You say your curious, thats fine.. but you make it obvious that you want to try this out.. this is wrong. You should not force any other living being to do something just because your curious.. you should rethink your motives for this.
However, your curiousity is not wrong in that I am sure we have all wondered what an animal would do under the influence..
Generally, I don't think there would be any difference or change. Studies done on animals using psychedelic drugs do not show anything of value (there can be no subjective responses-really the only important thing here), that is why studies using psychedelic drugs on animals are useless. It is why Alexander Shulgin decided that he was going to have to assay his drug creations on himself, use himself as the guinea pig.

Lab rats seem to experience the effects of hallucinogens differently, depending on the specific drug. For instance, after several initial doses, rats don't appear to be bothered by LSD very much.
And contrary to what others have said, animal experimentation is a necessary evil that has yielded us much information.

This thread has been closed.
Reason: Please use the Search function, this topic has been beaten to death a dozen times over.
The shroomery distances itself from the dosing of animals for entertainment purposes.
