I think too much
    #490406 - 12/13/01 11:21 PM (15 years, 7 months ago)

Over the past year or so, I have done a lot of philosphizing about what I beleive: how reality works, life after death, etc. I've came to a lot of conclusions, but I have come to twice as many unanswered questions as I have conclusions. Sometimes I even wonder why I bother thinking about such things like life after death. I mean, what happens is going to happen, right? Whatever you beleive doesn't mean shit if it isn't what really happens. And then I was thinking that, you know, I have proven to myself that your reality is what you make of it, so "after-reality"(so to speak)would be the same way. If you truly beleive you are going to heaven when you die, well then your perception of heaven is exactly what you will experience for eternity after death. If you beleive you just stop existing(atheism)then you will merely stop exisiting. Your conciounsess will be no more. Anyway, I forgot what the hell my point was, as I am a bit drunk... so I might reply if I remember the rest of it... feel free to reply with your thoughts in the mean time.

I've come up with similar theories about beleif in death. It just seems to make sense that whatever it is that you truly beleive is what should be happening to your conciousness when it ceases to exist.

But...who knows?

I know what you mean, about asking all the questions and philosphising and getting nowhere and all... I found myself going in one big ass circle, and I realized it when I came across some of my old writings that I started when I first started slipping from the grips of sanity... (or so I thought.)

Now, I find myself in the exact fucking place I started.

I posted one of those "writings" here, under the "This May Relate To The Human/Nature Predicament" thread.

Well, I'm with you. Whatever happens is gonna happen, but I'm not with you in the part where you say "if I believe in heaven that that's what I might experience for the rest of eternity..". I wouldn't count on that.

I know how you feel... I used to think way too much on the same things.

The way I'm fixing this is to experience first-hand my spirituality. Now, I dont recommend eating mushrooms to everyone, but when I had the desire to learn more about the universe, this was the quickest way to destroy what had been built up during childhood...

Im sure i could have done it without using drugs, but I suspect it would have taken a very long time... Know what I mean?

Anyway, I base what I "believe" on what I glimpse in altered states (meditation, dreams, tripping). But at the same time I *try* to keep an open mind, knowing the danger of dogma.

I know exactly what you mean. Drugs are a shortcut for me... for instance, I have been relaxed long enough while completely sober to enter a meditative relaxed state, however, when I am under the influence of THC, entering this state requires only the will to do so. The drug has already relaxed your body and opened your mind to suggesion, which is the hardest part of meditation to achieve. All that is required when I am under the influence to enter a trance state is to envision grey energy swirling around me and say"I am entering a trance state" and I am instantly 10x more relaxed. I do have some conflicts with this though. Such as is it a good thing that smoking flowers of a plant cuts the time it takes to trance by 1/10, or is it merely false, a mirage of what is possible to achieve with the natural mind at work?

Drugs are simulations of the posibilities you can achieve.

maybe you are already dead and you are reliving a very detailed and long memory up until your death.
