1" casing layer and it's removal.

My friends conjoined twin cased birdseed ( one of the few that didn't succumb to goo) with 50/50+. The top layer is 1" thick as per paul staments casing instructions. There has been almost no myc growth on the casing. A little came out and he put a little casing on it per hawks casing instructions. One week after casing there was no growth. It is now almost 2 weeks and still nothing. He is wondering if he should go ahead and remove half of the top layer? The casing was heavily misted for the first 3 days. What do ya'll think? Besides this, I am still having a hell of a time with birdseed tek. It get's the goo no matter how much I rinse it,. pc it or dry it. Straw tek is the shit! I have 200+ pins on my first try.
