Reckless Decisions

Throughout the course of time, older people, sometimes called blue-hairs or wrinklers, have been thought of as wise. You've all heard to listen to your elders, as have I. We hear their words in the oddest of places, including pop songs, books, and even abstract art. We all know what they have to say, but they are just words without association.
It will never cease to amaze me how such thoughts come into their own meaning through experience. Simple things you thought you understood before, actually behaving completely different with a preface taken less from empirical knowledge, and more from intuition. You'll never learn from hearing the words.
I've made some horribly reckless decisions, that I will undoubtedly pay for. In fact, it's happening right now. How else am I to learn, though? Sometimes these epiphanies take me for granted.
Have a wonderful evening, meandering migrants.

i totally understand what you mean...
one way this has occurred in my life.
my gramma always said "ill have my revenge when you finally have your own children!"
i thought i knew what she meant... yeah great little mes running around how horrible!
but now that i have two children...
i understand how i was as a child, and what a jerk children can be without even knowing it! their innocence care naught for our feelings or our carefully built defense mechanisms. they more often than not blurt the truth out, crashing these walls to the ground!
this is a good thing, but only in the sense that as a child, you go unawares of your own defense systems usually, you build them to protect you form foreign paradigms and ways of thought.
thank you little mes, for letting me understand how to be a better individual, and a better collective.

I've found the cliche "you don't know what you have till it's gone" means quite the bit.
I grew up in a trailor and had 16$ for food a month to feed 5 people. I bitched about being poor and made fun of myself non-stop. When I was 10 years old I got kicked out and had to fend for myself until I was 15 (when my grandfather heard about it all). I then lived with him in a 5 bedroom house and plenty of food. It was what I always wanted, but suddenly realized, it wasn't home.
Home was my 2 bedroom trailor. Didn't realize how much I loved it until it was gone and I was faced with what I thought I wanted.
Just thought I'd share.
