fish tank heater.
    #4897554 - 11/05/05 02:50 PM (18 years, 4 months ago)

I have this heater that says submersible but it has a max water line on it...cant find any heaters that say "fully submersible"?

Question is will it work?
I've seen others here with package stating submersible and not "fully submersible".
Thankyou.

They are water heater's, I'd hope they are all "at least" sudmersible, lol.

That will work in some applications, heat bomd and such.

If you are doing a T.I.T., you need a fully submersible. Keep searching and good luck. Almost all pet stores should have them.

Thanks, Well I went back to my local fish store and he said both the tronix and elite submersible water heaters are in fact "fully submersible" and to ignore the water line...He then proceeded to show me that in All his tanks the heaters are under water heater, dial, cord and all.
I believe him, he's been in the biz for over ten years around here so I'm go'n ahead.
Thanks guys!

you can also make them work by drilling a 1 inch hole in your tub at the bottom. stick a grommet in there and press the heater into the grommet. Its gotta be real tight so use some lube of sorts. Also Some heaters are thicker then others so you can take the grommet and make the hole a little bigger with a dremel tool sanding bit

I have several tronic heaters and they work pretty good...but wear out in 2 to 3 years.

Petco stopped selling the Tronic in my area...guess they had some problems with them not working properly.

Ebo Jager is a top notch heater...and at that price listed in the url above is a steal.
That is where I'll be buying mine in the future as needed.

Glad your local store was able to help you.
