Casing won't pin!!

Okay it's been 3-4 weeks guys and I have a fully colonized casing. I've tried everything as far as heat and humidity go.. right now the humidity's right around 98 % or so and the temp is 77. No dice, they will not pin for some reason. I've never had this problem before! They're getting plenty of light too. Is it too late? Have I lost them? They are ecuadors. Any help would be much much appreciated, as I don't know what to do at this point.

in my experience, the biggest contributor to pinning is fresh air exchange.
you want to provide as much fresh o2 as possible without also negatively affecting humidity.
barring that, an undetected bacterial contam on the underside of your casing can also cause problems.

casing need 85-90% humidity AFTER pinning. Your humidity and temps look good, but yea what about the FAE?

I would personally dunk that casing for 12 hours with some cold water. After that, place a small fan in the room to ensure plenty of fresh air. I do agree with the others, FAE is likely the culprit.

Ive TMC, and hundreds of posts, I know that before you initiate pinning, when the casing is in the incubator there are signals you need to give the casing once fruited to initiate pinning. In the incubator the casing should be 84-86 degrees, I had trays that I covered with plastic wrap that had a few small holes in it. The plastic wrap helps keep a lot of CO2 in the air all around the casing. The last important thing is to keep the casing in complete darkness as much as possible. This simulates the colony in nature growing underground and collecting nutrients. Once colonized and the casing layer has been applied. You fruit the casing. The temperature should be dropped to at least 72-76, to signal the casing that it has reached the surface and needs to fruit. Its warmer underground obviously, so the casing needs cooler air at the surface. The humidity should still be high around 95% until primordia is seen. The casing should be given as much fresh air as possible without loosing too much humidity. The casing should also get light at this point. Indirect sunlight is the best possible light. If not get a flourescent bulb as close to natural sunlight as possible. This light should be on for 12 hours per day before pins are seen. The light can be cut back slightly once pins are seen. The casing layer can also be misted lightly to saturation point before pins are seen. This helps create a humid microenvironment for pin formation.
All of these are signals for the casing to pin. If applied correctly as stated pinning should be initiated no problem. 3-4 weeks seems way too long to wait for pins. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys. I'm going to try augistin's idea of dunking the casing. And then I suppose I'll start all over again with the suggestions above. The substrate is a simple peat moss/vermiculite mixture.
