yellow spots
    #4888428 - 11/03/05 11:54 AM (18 years, 3 months ago)

so some cakes that were incubating were doing just fine, so i let them sit just for a little more time before casing them. the thing now is that there are yellow spots on the cake, and it's all in the same batch. what i'm wondering is, is this bacteria contamination or is it ammonia from letting the cakes sit too long? i still want to case them and see what happens but i'm concerned that the casing may spread the bacteria to another casing in the same terrarium. is this a possibility of ruining my other casing if they're in the same terrarium? anyone have any idea what the yellow may be due too?

only about 6 days. these were slow colonizers so i figured that since it got off to a slow start than it would at least allow the inner parts to get a solid mycelial core.

hypothetically, could these be contams? i've accidentally left jars without fruiting and they grew some stuff 'in-vitro' i guess.

Thats fine. If you expose jars to light or sometimes let them be for too long it begins to pin inside the jar. Some people grow invitro because they dont want the hassle of a terrium and everything. If it just small pins you'll be fine.
