I think its impossible for anybody to stay awake long eneough to cause themselve permananent damage. Its like trying to kill yourself from holding your breath. Im sre you yield within a weeks time. It doenst matter how hard you try or what substnaces your on....your body just folds.

I remember reading it a few months ago when I was looking around for it... I will continue to look for more studies, but here is an excerpt from wikipedia

Total sleep deprivation in rats leads to death in 28 days. Death occurs later if only REM or only NREM sleep are eliminated. In humans, it's virtually impossible to die from sleep deprivation since fractions of a second long microsleep sessions develop. Several months of no sleep at all, as in fatal familial insomnia, causes death but other symptoms such as dementia and permanent personality changes develop within the first few weeks.

I'll keep looking for the actual research study at the library tomorrow.

My favorite thing in life is sleep, it lets your memory of reality wash away, letting you fully appreciate every new day.

your dreams will show you more than senses ever can, but I don't know what kind of hallucinations your experiencing.
