Hey all, Im eric from ottawa canada, and have been finding/eating these shrooms for 2 years now and i think i might have the elusive bluefoot. i have pics albeit not that great quality, but i will identify as much as possible in writing so you guys can decide and possibly comment. here goes: Area found: Ottawa Ontario, alongside the Ottawa river parkway in a small pile of brush, growing on wood mulch and bark etc.
Cap and stem colour: Most of the mushrooms have bluing on the cap and consist monstly of tans or yellowish colours, some have entirely blue caps and ALL specimens have blue stems, stems are mostly hollow but some arent. bluing is most visible at base of stem,
Gill colour and spore print colour: All of the specimens have a light brown/tan almost pinkish coloured gills, and spore prints are chocolate brown with hints of purple.
and now for the pics....hopefully this is the true Ps. caerulipes, if its not any suggestions as to what it really is?
this last pic here shows the major difference in colouration seen in the same species

Those are caerulipes. They very often have that little nipple in the center of the cap. Nice.

I've found them for the last couple of years. They fruit in the late spring as well.

Very nice finds Eric. I read that bumped thread earlier, there seems to be alot of controversy as to species, maybe somebody could examine the spores with a microscope to help positively id them. They sure do fit the P caerulipes description, and the color plates in my book are of similar size as your finds. Emerson blue ass shrooms, are they potent? What can you tell of the dosage and experience?

well i am not too extensive in the shroom eating field, but compared the semilanceata.....they blow it out of the water......takes longer to roll in and its a more mellow roll. once in full bloom, visionary effects are amazing, i find a strong inclination to merge with objects aorund...yanno that feeling of touching sumthing and ur hand or arm or whatever sinks into it.....umm im kinda weird with shrooms they dont hit me as easy as other ppl.....my friends can pop 3 fresh shroom heads and be totally fucked, im in the 6-8 fresh shroom range

doesnt look like Ps Caerulipes to me more like stropharia aeruginosa and i don't see hopw they would blast semis out of the water. real libs are extremely potent mushrooms.

AS Mitchnast said and according to your photo pictorial, those are Stropharia aeruginosa not P. caerulipes.
P. caerulipes is a summer mushroom growing from Late May to Spetember from the midwwest USA (Mich, Ohio, Penns, West Virginia to the east coast of America. They more resemble P. cyanescens.
But your shrooms are not magic. And that is a green staining Stropharia.
Not psychoactive whatsowever

They probably are Stropheric aeuginosa. That is a lot of greenish blueing on them. Do the stems start out whitish and then turn blue when handled?

If the stems start out white and turn blue when handled they are probably Stroph Eric caerulipes

The greening of the caerulipes is there when the weather is cold and dry. They are pretty much a dead ringer for Stropheria aeruginosa and the spore size is pretty much the same. This is from the descriptions I've read. The best way to tell them apart would be the bluing on the stem when handled. The nipple that is present on a lot of caerulipes is not mentioned in the descriptions of aeruginosa. As I haven't found aeruginosa I don't know if it sometimes has a nipple or not.
