Shrooms from space

i find it extremely interesting that mushrooms spores are one of the few things that can survive in space. we have even found spores on meteorites. this firms up my belief that mushrooms are extremely important to the human race, not to mention all other possible races. it blows my mind to think that mushrooms are something that can be found on any planet in the universe. it's like a higher being is telling all of us that they are important and that there is a universal message to be conveyed through them. it also blows my mind that they are illegal in the US. i am very disgusted with that, to say the least. anyway, just wanted to throw that out there. discuss!

As far as I know viruses can survive in space also, this make them important? Should we consider the importanceof the herpes virus? I doubt it. Some things really are "just a coincidence" if ya ask me... Just checking. Peace

Viruses exist for a reason. They are just as important in the grand scheme of things as say mushroom spores.

i find it interesting that mushrooms breathe oxygen, as opposed to carbon dioxide. as for the virus thing... i would have to agree with shroomism on that one.

I would call mushrooms the Universal Mind, or medium.

I agree, I think mushrooms are a Medium to contact (or intensify the communication with) higher beings. I definately sense an "alien" feel to shrooms...

Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in about mushrooms breathing oxygen and not CO2. Nothing on earth breaths CO2. Plants use CO2 in photosynthesis. (6)CO2 + (6)H2O + sunlight = C6H12O6 + (9)O2 Plants use O2 for their own metabolism, they just produce more than they use. All the O2 produced is releaced into the air. The oxygen they use for metabolism is absorbed though roots and leavs.

sporulation was developed by the prokaryotes (bacteria and their allies) --- fungal and other eukaryotic organisms that use spores are johnnie-come-latelies... (see lynn margulis and dorian sagan's _microcosmos_ for a readable telling of the story of bacteria... everything gaia needed to know she learned in the precambrian... well, except for sex & death, maybe...)

Didn't Terrence McKenna have a theory that psilocybin mushrooms were transported from another planet and the spores survived the journey through space? Maybe it wasn't him, I forget. It always tripped me out thinking that maybe the "alien" world that we are transported to on shrooms is actually what their home planet is like? OK maybe its a stupid idea but its still interesting to think about.

A few years back I had a very bad trip on a ton off PF Classic 'shrooms. (you would never believe how much I ate!) What I remeber the most was terrible vivid visons of aliens everywhere. During that bad trip I actually was convinced that the aliens were trying to merge with our species via the mushrooms! (' talk about POTENT)

I will be the first to admit that I was tripping. But, honestly, I'm not sure what to make out of it. What was really weird was how I kept seeing the sterotypical alien's face. Like the faces were everywhere I looked for about 8 hours!! I didnt see pink elephants or anything other weird thing.... ' just seen totaly creeped out of aliens with insect like bodys! (that was the ONLY time that I have such a trip)

the first time i ever shroomed i had an alien voice speaking to me inside of my head. i am convinced this voice was real, not just a hallucination. though i'm sure the shrooms helped me tune into whatever message i was supposed to be hearing. the message was a loving one, and the clouds in the sky shifted into aliens and golden pyramids as the voice spoke. the idea of shrooms giving us the opportunity to glimpse another place (an actual physical place) is very plausible to me.

it blows my mind to think that mushrooms are something that can be found on any planet in the universe That may indeed blow your mind, but as yet no life, including mushrooms, has been found on another planet. Perhaps you can enlighten us on what you base this statement?

i find it extremely interesting that mushrooms spores are one of the few things that can survive in space. The possibility (this has not been demonstrated - only postulated) that they can survive doesn't mean that they come from space. Let's not mix attribute and causation here.

Agreed. We could have put them there just as much as they could of come from another planet, But lets see, mushrooms exist here on earth, but i can't think of anywhere else. So, lets conclude. If they are in space they are from here. Prove me wrong, as of yet you can't. However, i would be estactic to find life on another planet, if fact i beleive that is inevitable. As for mushrooms being sent to us from aliens, i think you people take tripping a lil too literally, remember, its the drug talking and fucking around with ya brain. Mental patients see aliens also, they have disorders, be glad you don't see what they see or hear everyday of their lives. Peace

Jammer, i got chills reading about your bad trip, now that that image of the alien is my mind, i'm afraid to trip again... Once on shrooms and acid, i realized that the moon is a door way, and that man has gone to it the wrong way. you get there with a space ship, and there is nothing there....but you get there with your mind, and you can go to a another demention

But, honestly, I'm not sure what to make out of it. I believe that this is the correct stance to take.
