I am new and feel a little confused
    #4860258 - 10/27/05 05:15 PM (18 years, 5 months ago)

So i wanted to do everything right so i spent big bucks all most a $1000 on supplies. I purchased a nutramist fogger(3-5 micron droplets) and connected that to a green air humidistat and set it at 90%RHC and plan to grow in propagation dome 22inch by22in and 12in tall. The only problem is that i can not grow these sticking cakes. Idid eveything exact to PF tek.I think it might just have been to high of heat in my incubator. and it took for ever to see any signs of growth if i plan to case would it be easier to use rye berries i hear it is quicker than PF cakes with BRF and VERM. On my last cakes the top layer of verm grew more mycellium. whats that about? and what do you think of my setup idea?

wow dude... you really went all out with that 1000 bucks.

did you buy a pressure cooker?
if so you could easily colonize grain and spawn it to pasteurized horse poo.

you shouldnt have had to spend that much money just to do some pf style jars.
i'd ditch whatever dome you've got and get a big 3-4 teir greenhouse for like 40-60 bucks and hookyour humidifier thing to that. it doesnt sound like a 22/12" dome is gonna be much room.

read up. lavish and expensive setups dont grow shrooms for you. you still have to know what you're doing and WHY. no offense or anything.

good luck

1000 bucks? I don't know what you have been buying but you need to look for better deals. Mind you 500 - 600 would be reasonalbe for a very good set up with everything new but..... just dont add up to me..

Yikes!  I would be sure I could do it before I spent that much.  What other supplies did you get?  Hopefully lots of spores included!  I recommend WBS over BRF/verm, colonization is much faster

What is WBS like i said i am new. i did buy a pressure cooker and the reason so much was spent was the nutramist fogger was $420 and the green air humidistat was$230 and a home made glove box that came out awesome its by far the best i have seen anywhere for under $150 after that just odds aND ENDS ADDED UP and i am by no means rich it was a heavy invest ment but i love my little guys. So let me know any little secrects you might have. my incubator consits of a rubbermaid tub with hydrofarm heat mat with sensor inside to control temp. not sure why i am haveing so many problems i am know seeing it is guess and check untill you find something that works. thanks

the reason i spent big bucks is cause i dont want to have to watch it like a baby and it is completely automated. i also thought if i could give it supreme conditions i would have higher yeilds and possible more flushes.

WBS = Wild bird seed

I like your exuberance, but these guys are right. Big money doesn't give you an edge. I wish it did cuz I got a bit to spend as well...lol

I would ditch the PF if I were you because with this much money invested you are not going to be happy with the results...

Try searching for

Bulk substrates
Casing
and Martha chamber

Should give you a bit of a start...

i woudlnt reccomend it, but you could try and summon the devil to trade your soul for some good flushes and never be arrested.

yeah dude, i spent like 90$ including syringes for my set up. got 4 rubbermaid containers for 20$!!! Big lots owns. They would of been like 12$ averagely it said, but instead i ended up paying like 5$ + tax. And I got my canning jars for like 1.50$ for a dozen 1/2 pts. Quarts are like 2$.

If I were you i'd break all your equip, and be like, it was broken when i used it. $$ back please.
