reishi or no reishi?? help ID please!

went for a walk and came across this growing on a fallen palm tree.




no spore print, but just by the pics what do you guys think? been looking to buy a reishi culture but maybe i wont have to. haha

I'm sure it's not a reishi.  maybe some other ganoderma, but maybe not, I'm not very familiar with polypores  :crazy:...

Judging by the radiating zones of color, the white underside, and the subsrate i would agree that it is Ganoderma, but not reishi.
Reishi has strong red pigments. The short stem is deep burgundy, which fans out to form a cap-like structure that is red on top (becoming dull tobacco brown from spores) and white on the bottom.
The white pores, when scratched, quickly turn brown; a common sign of the Ganoderma genre. The inner flesh is also a dark [shiny] brown. It smells very mushroomy and tastes pretty bitter.

Good info  :thumbup: Ganoderma comes in many shapes and differeing hughes. But, that resembles neither G. lucidum or tsugae I've found.
I agree it is probably Ganoderma, but not lucidum.
