I've got 2 B+ cakes and 3 ecuatorian in my terrarium. All of them were short in water when the cakes were inoculated. Mycelium developed in 3 weeks(ecuatorian), and 6 weeks(b+). All the cakes have been in the terrarium for 5 weeks now, and i only got 2 mushrooms from one ec.cake + another one from another ec. Nothing from the b+ cakes so far. The cakes are covered with withe, fluffy mycelium, no contamination. RH is 90-95% (perlite), and temp range 57-63 F. I'm heating the terrarium recently to 65-75F, but RH has dropped to 85-90%. What am I doing wrong? Should i discard those cakes and start all over again? Pls, help. Thanks

So, should I just crumble the cakes on top of a moist verm layer, cover them with more moist verm and place them back in the terrarium? another question: what was the mistake in the first place?(RH, temp) Thanks

follow a casing tek. it tells you what to do, what to use, and how to do it. shroomery.org/grow find/casing (i believe) later

Yeah he's right about your temp. Kepp that new increase in temp, case using a casing tek, and that lower humidity will be better since your using a casing. Good luck. 6 weeks to colonize, dear lord. Peace

Ok, guys, thanks. I will case those cakes and keep that temperature high, and see what hapens. Do you think that using just moist vermiculite for casing will do the trick? Thank you all.

yes it would. its your decision tho. i hear the larger verm works better in casing layers.

You can 50/50 steralized soil and vermiculite mixed with water(Moist, Damp, NOT SOGGY) in a 2" layer on the bottom. Crumble the cakes into baby fist size chunks on top of this. Cover With 1 1/4" damp steralized soil.

I just cased those cakes (they looked kinda dry) in 2 layers of wet vermiculite, since i'm not really sure of how to sterilize common soil. I will let you know the results. THANKS

Not too wet, just moist. How long do you pc common soil? I assume you add water before you sterilize soil. I can use microwave oven instead, again water added before sterilize, around 3 min, cover with saran wrap and let cool. Is that the right way? Should the casing layer be totally covered before moved into the terrarium or just a few patches of mycelium is all right? Once in the terrarium, should i mist it daily or air humidity is enough? Lots of questions, huh? Thanks
