Is it really ridiculous for me to be weary of obtaining an unwanted species from a wild print such as you sell? What are the potential hazards of using such prints to one's health?

I agree... it's not likely unless the 'shroom picker misidentifies the strain. Which is the scary part. There are some pics online of magic shrooms and deadly ones growing in the wild side by side.

So, if I understand it correctly, one would be relying on the "shroom picker" vendor's identification skills rather than a microscopic analysis of the species for identification purposes? Hmmmm. Frankly, I'm not feeling so ridiculous right now for being concerned.

Thats really the only possible danger, finding out your print was of something else. But the odds of A: getting the wrong print, B:actually being able to grow something out of it and C:that something turns out to be a poisonous mushroom that looks like what you wanted to grow (like maybe a Deadly Galerina), are very slim indeed.

Nevertheless, this is why you should always obtain your wild prints from reputable sources, such as the SporeLab.

Visit the SporeLab Gallery of Mt. Elphie mushrooms featuring over 50 species common to Mt. Elphie, all photographed and identified (to Genus at least) by CaptainMaxMushroom with a little bit of help from professional mycologist Paul Kroeger. You may have seen some of Pauls photo's in Stamets Psilocybe Mushrooms of the World. I believe he is also listed in the acknowledgment section of a couple other Stamet books.
