air change Q
    #484286 - 12/08/01 07:24 PM (16 years, 4 months ago)

im just about to case using the 50/50 technique and was wondering if you have to do the air change in the initial week after casing during the mycelium growth stage

Oh and one more thing, I was reading about the different options of what to use as the bottom layer of my casing. Does anyone have a preferance.

no you don't have to change air during growth phase.

I always fan my fruiting area, just to get some air exchange. However, I don't use a terrarium, I just use a closet and mist the trays as needed. My favorite bottom layer is sterlized vermiculite.

you should not introduce fresh air while your casing is colonizing. only do this when you want to initiate the pinning/fruiting stage. reason being is that high CO2 levels are beneficial to mycelial growth, so why fan it away?
