i couldnt find the audio you were talking about on the jjj site. but they are known for good breakbeat sets.
so it sounds like you want some progressive breaks sets. ive got loads of sets on my hard drive. if you have aim maybe i could upload some to you. id reccomend you try out some of timo mass' breaks sets. even his prog house sets are top notch. you might also want to try out hybrid, phil k, nubreed, luke chable
heres some good sites to start with www.hybridized.org www.bijoubreaks.com www.livesets.com
also id recomend some drum n bass(faster breakbeats). try some atmospheric dnb.
if you need any more recomendations feel free to ask. you can pm me if you wanna hitmeup on AIM.
Cheers Bro. I might hit you up for those sets. I?ll shoot you a PM
Yeah I like plump djs, adam freeland, & evil nine as well. But i really like the darker, heavier stuff. Autobots, Breakfastaz, Backdraft etc...DNB as well. love it.
Yeah i thought hybrid might be good. I caught a set of theirs the other day at a festival i went to. Not very thoughtful ...but you can certainly get lost into those beats.

If you are looking for mind blowing breaks, check out James Zabelia. He is at the forefront of the UK scene, having won MixMag's "Bedroom Bedlam DJ of the Year", appeared numerous times on the Radio 1 Essential Mix and generally the young prodigjy (sp) of world renowned Sasha, he is one of the best in the business!
Also as mentioned, Phil K and Hybrid, and those "Nubreed" CD's are excellent!
anarchist, I didn't realise progressive house had much of a following on your side of the water, I thought it was a mainly european thing. If you get a chance, try to find a copy of Sanders album "This is everybody Too", truly amazing and "The Fruit" is also on it

are you in the UK?
look out for stuff on the YK4 label. huge prog breaks label. you also might like some stuff on perfecto breaks. maybe even some stuff on bedrock. oh yeah you might like some stuff by prince quick mix.
phil k and luke chable are considered to be top notch in the prog breaks scene right now. check out the mix phil k - balance 4 http://www.htfr.com/more-info/?catno=MR90856 .
my 2 favorite prog breaks tracks 1. stefan Anion - Mad World (a remix of the gary jules track) stefan is a local here in dallas but his bootleg made it to the UK. 2. Prince Quick Mix - Babe Im Gonna Leave You (Phil k & Nubreed RMX)
i would love to put a mix together for you myself but as of right now im in no condition to be recording(my equipment is either missing or not up to par).

Yep, Northern Ireland is UK lol!
I have the Phil K/Dave Seaman "Therapy Sessions" CD from Rennaissance - most excellent!
Balance - great CD's. Just got the Paolo Mojo Balance #008, sublime.
I've heard a lot of Bedrock stuff and Perfecto stuff, all excellent. Used to spin some 1210's myself but sold them when I got into cars, miss them like hell
Oh, and as I've said - make SURE to check out James Zabelia!

aww yeah how could i forget about james zabelia? be sure check him out "scratching with feedback".
prog house is not the most popular in dallas but it does get around. its funny that most of the prog house is actually turning into electro house lately.

I am really having trouble bringing myself to the realisation that what i am actually looking for is Prog Breaks. For years now i have not liked this style of music. I like it funky, jazzy, hard, dark. But boring old prog. I would prefer to think i am looking for just really simple breaks. Breaks that dont lack in atmosphere. yet not as boring as prog. I am not dissing some of the suggestions people have made. I fully understand why people like they style. its just not for me. Or is it. i am yet to listen to is whilst in la la land. I guess i will soon see.
yeah i know James Zabelia. I have only listened to 1 of is more recent double cds. Full respect the the dude. he is a magician with his equipment. but i missed that bus. i just dont understand it.
Nubreed for sure...i might go buy thier album. Aussie! Aussie! Ausie!
lol...yeah. Im from australia

i am the odd man out here as it seems i like to trip to the beat of a different drummer than all of you.
if you're looking for mellow stuff to get lost in and trip out to, may i suggest some Imitation Electric Piano. The EP or "Trinity Neon" are golden. The new Boards of Canada album "The Campfire Headphase" may be exactly what you're looking for too. Also try Savath & Savalas "Folk Songs for Trains Trees and Honey." Go out on a limb and pick up some smooth 60's Brazilian jazz like Antonio Carlos Jobim. This is stuff to get lost into.

Could also try LTJ Bukem, although he has more of a Drum n Bass edge. Very floaty though in places and highly recommended!

what about modest mouse? i personally like certain late 60's-early 70's stuff to trip to, but modest mouse or radiohead is something else to try. dont think it's what you're looking for but modest mouse has some interesting drum lines and spacey lyrics and a spacey sound to them.
