hollow stems-please help

hello all-
the last batch of shrroms I grew (sea of shrooms tek) came up really well. One flush from 14 cakes yeilded approx. 250-300 descent size shrooms. average of 4-5 in. tall at harvest. the strange thing however is that the stems of the shrooms were hollow. as a consequence of this each shroom has less tissue and thereby not very potent. as you may imagine once dried the stems are just a bit thicker than dental floss. any suggestions? co2? humidity? thanks in advance.

What strain? I believe hollow stems are normal. It should not affect the potency of your shrooms. My last set of equadors had hallow stems and they are very potent.

right, stems are nearly always hollow once dried. that stem is holding a lot of water when it's fresh. With stem's that small (dentel floss) i imagin your using Mexi-Cubs. That's the only strain that i've goten stems that small. But well worth it, what an outstanding trip.

Hollow is normal for some races.Every B+ I have ever grown has been hollow.Sometimes I grow them next to ecuador's,and it can be difficult telling them apart,so I just give them a quick squeeze and the hollow ones are the B+.Peace.

thanks for the info guys. also i was thinking when i dry them i use a disecant (damp gone as described in MMGG). any thoughts about that? could the stems be so thin because the damp gone takes every single molecule of H2O out of the shroom? does that perhaps effect potency? I wouldn't think so. BTW the shrooms aren't very potent. 5 grams didn't even give me a hard trip. I misted my casing with water/H2O2 mix. could that be a problem? thanks again everybody.

Equadors can be hollow too.. I ate a few today that were hollow. It's totally normal in all cubensis strains.

Very true - B+ tend to be hollow as do most cubensis with larger sized fruits - if your after a good spore-race that grows thick but NOT hollow stems try Golden Teachers or Tasmanians - these both grow big fat stems that are never hollow

coupla things: first, misting with h2o2 mix does not affect potency, just contams, and if you use the dessicant - ALWAYS FAN DRY THEM FOR ONE DAY FIRST - otherwise they will rot in the dessicant chamber - the damp rid or damp be gone just removes all of the remaining water and makes them "cracker dry". i used an ordinary household oscillating fan face down in a spaghetti drainer (collander?) - they get almost 100% dry that way anyway, so you may elect not to even use the dessicant. peace.
