You do know that earth has had roughly the same amount of water for the past couple billion years right? Do you drive a car? what about the 40+ thousand gallons of water required to make your tires, yet alone the rest of you car.

Oh my god.. Shroomism that is cute copy+paste job, but that is simply propaganda and doesn't belong here. Not only is it propaganda, but nearly all of those points are moot if you want to talk science and economics.

haha. I knew this thread would get some panties in a bunch.

Yes, yes I do.

Do you drive a car?
No, no I do not.
Quote:

Waste of water
Ok Looner, I'll bite. Please explain why all my points (which have been so neatly copy and pasted) are moot, and propoganda. Please back it up with scientific evidence. You do realize the cattle industry and the agriculture to sustain that cattle industry is largely responsible for us only having less than half of an Amazon Rainforest now right? I suppose you're right... we would be *much* better off without an Amazon Rainforest, the area of the most abundant and diverse lifeforms in the world.
I'm not saying meat is evil. I'm saying the obsessive meat industry and it's massive consumption without regard for anything is fucking insane.
LiquidSmock, last I checked they don't clearcut rainforests to farm fish. Nor does the fishing industry produce a percentage of the waste that the beef and poultry industry does. Plus fish is good for you.
I can think of a few more points. Lactic Acid. Gall stones. Fat People. Heart Attacks. Do some research. Rustifier is the only one who made a good argument.
You guys all missed the main point.
1. Number of human beings who could be fed annually by the grain and soybeans eaten by U.S. livestock: 1,300,000,000
2. Number of people who will starve to death this year: 60,000,000
3. Number of people would could be adequately fed by the grain saved if Americans reduced their intake of meat by 10 percent: 60,000,000
You can feed 7 vegetarians with the grain it takes to produce enough meat to feed 1 meat eater.
But I guess that's what defines America. Excess, consumption, Greed..not giving a fuck.
"Who cares who starves to death.. as long as I have my filet mignon"
I'm not saying don't eat meat, I'm not preaching. I fucking eat meat. I'm just giving you guys the facts. No need to get all pissy.
Maybe you guys need more fruits and vegetables in your diet.. sounds like you're lacking some

The cow is a worthless animal.. Other than dairy production we would have no use for cows if we didnt eat them..
Soooo by eating beef we are effectively keeping cows from going extinct.
So eat some beef you hippy or your supporting the extinction of an entire species.

nice post, Shroomism. I agree; eating meat is not a horrible evil, but there's no reason to go overboard on it. It would help humanity as a whole if we cut back on our meat consumption, thus providing more land for growing grain that is a much more efficient food. And as for GabbaDj's post, Shroomism wasn't saying that we should stop eating meat altogether, so no, he isn't advocating the extinction of cows.

Nobody is
Anyway.. What would we do with them all? They make terrible pets and they cant be set free.
They would all be slaughtered to free space for grain farms.

lol, i know you weren't making a serious point, but just for the record, there's only about 1.3 billion cows in the world compared to the 6.5 billion people in the world

Well, if people cut back on meat consumption, farmers would gradually cut back on how many cows they bred. So yes, cows would die in order to make room for grain fields, but eventually, we would reach a good equilibrium point.

What is stupid is todays cow is not a natural animal. They were made by crazy breeding. An American cow would naturally die out if left on their own because they are not real animals they do not fit the rules of natural selection...
