If marijuana were legalized.......

If marijuana were legalized, what would they do with all of the people in prison because of it? Would they just let them out? Would they clear their records? Would they be given some sort of compensation, or just a "oops, our bad"?
If I were in prison for marijuana charges, and it was legalized, and I was set free, I'd be pretty pissed off for having to spend time in prison for it.

I wouldn't worry, it isn't going to happen anytime soon. If it did, I imagine they'd make people finish their sentances, since they broke the law while it was in effect.

The US gov, would send them to a prison in Iraq, to sit out the rest of their time.

they stay in jail. at the time they commited the crime it was a crime. they knew it and did it anyway. i don't necessarily agree with what i just asserted by the way.

Yes, reversal of legal statutes do not usually allow for compensation - they'd be released, but the convictions would have been pertaining to the time they were arrested...no compensation, in other words.
