Odd Mushrooms popping up under trampoline

I have had numerous mushrooms popping up in my backyard under a trampoline along the outer fringes. Geographically I am located in South Texas. The stem is completely underground like a root. They are all approximately 1.5" from stem to top and the top is 1" to 2" in diameter. I apologize, for I am not familiar with the terminology and I cannot find my USB connection to my digi camera. The coloring is a light beige with little slightly darker markings all over it. It does not have "gills" (apologize again) it is filled with a solid black interior which is very thick. When rubbed, it seems to turn rubbery. I can almost see a purplish tint to the black. It has been raining frequently here recently if that helps. The whole thing is very dense. If anyone could offer any insight, it would be greatly appreciated. And again I apologize if I left anything out. This is my first time posting to this board. This mushroom just seemed a little out of the ordinary for the normal garden variety around here.
Thanks,

You should put this in the Identification forum, you can easily learn terminology there and you will probably get more responses.
Is the cap (the top or "head" of the mushroom) like a toadstool or more spherical like a little ball on top.
If the cap is like a toadstool (like the mario mushroom, or a portabella), pull the stem of one apart and check for a rubbery stringy thing that runs from the center of the stem and connects to the cap (which may also be rubbery).

I would say more of a mario bros type (more shperical with minimal deviation on some). I could not discern any thing that went up through the stem that connected it to the cap. I broke the cap open into many pieces and it is black through and through. Putty-like when rubbed with fingers. Sorry, I didn't see the identification forum. I thought this was it.

Is there a way to move the thread to the other forum? Thanks for help.

And I forgot to mention there is an oak tree that overhangs the trampoline.

It's only bad to eat, it is good for they trees associated with it. Scleroderma are mycorrhyzal, they form a mutually beneficial association with the trees that they grow with. Mushroom gets sugars from the tree and tree gets minerals from the mushroom.

I guess I'll leave them be if it will benefit my oak. I've read that they are a problem for various crops grown for $.
