Its not new and unfortunately it doesn't have the pointed caps like that pictured in Stamets. Psilocybe semperviva is conspecific to Psilocybe hoogshagenii var. convexa, the variety that lacks the cute little nipple. BIO and Electrolurch have grown it out previously. Electrolurch has had the best success using straw as a substrate. An example of his impressive work is reposted below with straw substrate on the left and rye grain on the right.
His success has prompted me to break into my library and give it a try on grass seed. I am only at the pinning stage, but it looks pretty good so far.
Keep looking for those new ones ralphster ;)

In reply to:
I have acquired a new mushroom strain new to the OMC.
Guess not.
In reply to:
Excellent mushroom.
Have you ever grown these from the spores you have? Have you ever eaten them? If not how the fuck would you know? Excellent mushshroom, excellent mushshroom, everything you come out with is excellent mushroom.
These are wild prints. How do you know what to expect from these spores?
At least you're not trying to sell them as domesticated.

mmm...i didn't understood if the prints you have are ps. semperviva from electrolurch or are wild prints from mexico....
ralph...pm me with details, perhaps the prints you have are hoogshageeni (with nipples) wich are commonly sold as "pajaritos" in the town of Huautla de Jimenez, in the sierra mazateca....

Hi,
probably it's time I clear the things a little bit out. Actually the prints
Ralphster got are from me, and are from specimens that are shown in the photo Workman was kind to post. I'm interested in this precious species widely cultivation, and am sure it could be an easy start for those looking
further than the cultivation of Psi. cubensis strains. After I repetetively
tried to talk with Bio, from whom I got the culture, about spreading this
species, without any kind of answer, I decided to donate 5 very dark sporeprints to the FSR. So that's the story ;)
I still have about 10 very dark sporeprints, some of which even have a diameter of about 5 cm (2 inches). I don't want to sell them by myself (I dislike giving the addy to get the money), and I don't want to give them away for nothing, because every single letter costs me about 1.5 EUR for non european addresses, and 50 cents for europe. So maybe some vendor has an idea...
BTW the trays of the above photo are still fruting, not as vigoursly and the
fruitbodies are smaller. They are still contamination free. Actually that trays
are fruiting since mid agoust! So much to semperviva, "the always living" ;) The fruitbodies have now a small nipple, about 1 - 2 mm big.
These mushrooms are delicious, and believe me they are stronger than Psi.
cubensis. The trip is so mexican, it was like being home for me :)
I hope this brings some light,
Elektrolurch

To my understanding you would want to fruit them on straw. On rye grain they dont do as well. I know on grass seed they also perform OK. I think compost is also an option.

I am very interested. I was just getting ready to start some other mexican species soon so this is great timing.
Club99 was kind enough to send some ps. caerulescens and ps. aztecorum's and ps. mexicana a while back so I was going to give them a try soon. I"ll just make it big Mexican fiesta :)
Do you Ralphster, Workman or Elektrolurch want a part of these prints?
Workman, I also got that ps. quebecensis print back finally.
Do you still want part of this print to give it a try?
Great job Elektrolurch, those look beatiful.

Hey has anyone grown the quebecensis with any success? Just thought I would ask, because I read that someone had a print in this thread...and it is supposed to grow natively in my area. Just curious. Cheers
