Colonization of Jar Bottoms?

I was curious if I needed to do anything to get the bottom of my jars to colonize. Two of my jars are almost completely colonized after loosening the lids but the bottoms havent started yet. Should I do anything or just let them do their thing. Any suggestions would be cool. Peace.
