Uh oh, i think i see what's going on here.
You may not have noticed it because he appeared mostly calm, but those phrases are all classic signs of a bad trip.
He probably didn't want to admit that he wasn't having a good time because he didn't want to disappoint you, or he was too embarrassed.
Don't think it's your fault for not being a good sitter though, I'm sure you did your best. your friend clearly wasn't ready to trip, or he would have told you immediately that he wasn't enjoying the experience. Opening up to you would have allowed you to influence his trip in a positive way, but it seems like he was very closed the whole time.
Try and get him to open up to you more. It would be a shame to lose a potential psychonaut.

hey thanks so much for your thoughtful post. what you said makes a lot of sense. i appreciate it

i talked to him a little bit more about it this afternoon. he asked me if i thought he had a bad trip. i said i thought it made a turn for the worse when we went down to the rushing water. then he let me know that the forest turned angry and trees were coming toward him. that explains it. he said that noises were unbearable, especially on the walk home (the cars).

he told me he remembered asking me if he was dead or if he had killed himself because he forgot he was tripping and he thought i was a guide to the afterlife. heh. i am quite angelic  :smirk:

he said it was an experience he was glad he tried. if he wants to pursue it, i could see another trip for him in the future. but that's only if he pursues it.

i really feel a lot better about the whole thing.
thank you.
