I suppose you can but then you just boil that water first and make sure you washed the container out with like a swimmingpoolchlorine water or 5 % bleach water mix, then itll be OK. But try your best to find another container, although its not that serious just make sure you boil the water first and ALSO wait for it to cool down... chuckle chuckle.

i dunked 8 cakes in purified water and 4 cakes in tap water right out of the sink, and there was no difference. you make the call though.

You wouldnt be able to tell a difference right away. That also is just a saftey step resulting in cleaner water= less contam worries. Just being safe.

Add a little peroxide to the water, i dunked a bunch at once before and they felt kinda slimy when i took them out, all hit with cobweb in the next weeks. I hear its imposable for a fully colonized cake to be contam'ed, so maybe it was something else.

Either use H2O2 or bleach in the mix no matter what you do. Both should allow the use of one container, but seperate ones is the standard for ensuring no cross-contamination. You can also just fill up the jar they're each individually in.

do you dunk it with h202/bleach in the water? or do you just use it for cleaning it? i'd imagine bleach water being absorbed into a cake couldnt be too good?
