Should I do it?.......
    #481400 - 12/05/01 10:11 PM (22 years, 4 months ago)

I'm having A LOT of trouble getting these ladies to fully colonize. Would it be OK to take what I have and try to case them? They are still growing (just SOOOO slowly; it's been well over a month), so should I wait or go ahead? Thanks.

Did you try loosening the lids a bit? Is your temp around 85? If not, go ahead and give it a try....If you take the cakes out before full colonization they WILL contaminate!

Of course you can birth them, only if you're gonna case them. I knew this guy who thought he had contamination when the jar was only 50% colonized. He took a sterile knife to cut off the yellow stuff and the uncolonized parts then cased. He saw fruits about two weeks later.
