Mycelium question!!!

My cousin's donkey innoculated pint jar of thailand koh samui 9 days ago. Had it in a closet that turned out to be 68 degrees and a week later he put it in a warmer area, 6 hours later dime size white fuzz appeared at the innoculation sites. Since then it has grown about an inch out on all sides. Tonight he put it into a cooler w. a heating pad and is keeping it at around 81 degrees. Does all this sound right? It doesn't need light does it? Thanks for hookin a brother up!!!!

yea that ok. some people debate about light if your going to use cakes. no light if you are going to case. try to keep a steady temp

I've kept my shrooms in a dresser drawer wit no light at all except for when i open the dawer to see how they're doin. I keep em on a heating pad and its on a medium setting, although i have a timer to turn off the heater every 6 hours, im still debating to leave the pad on low (prbly around 70 degrees) or on medium (80-90 degrees), if anyone knows how hot it has to be for it to kill already 1/2 colonized jars, Please let me knoW!!!

I think thermal death of mycillium occurs at107F if I remember correctly. But you don't want the temp much higher than 85F. Higher than that and it becomes ideal for mold and other contams. Be careful with the heating pad so you don't dry out your substrate. Perhaps put a towel or something between the jars and heating pad.
