honey jar - no growth

last week I tried for the first time to clone a mushroom using the honey water tek. I quite a bit of the core of the stem into the water and nothing has happened. At the same time I took what was left of a syringe (2cc's) and injected it into another jar of the same honey water. The syringe jar is half colonized, by my clone is not doing anything.

Anyone have any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong?

When dude has done clones by coring, he has noticed that it takes a while for the mycelium to grow out(longer than multispore to H.W.). Sometimes the cored flesh even looks brown and dead, but it eventually colonizes the H.W.
