Bell Shaped LIberty caps
    #4810880 - 10/16/05 02:59 PM (15 years, 4 months ago)

Just been picking out in kent and have found a MOD field with lots of libs in!

Some of the shrooms we picked look very much like bells and would appear to be slightly different than the others.

I have included pictures of the bell shaped libs.

The stalks of two of bells have blue in them. Is this the sign of libs?

thanks

Liberty caps are pretty variable. I'd have to say they very well could be. The dryness of the cap makes them harder to confirm.

At least some of them appear to be libs. I can see blueing on the stems in two in the bottom pic and I'm not aware of any similar looking mushroom which would do that. Although I'd best wait for someone else to confirm this.

Have you taken a spore print yet? If it comes out chocolate then i'd say yes, I've found libs can vary so much in shape. But as always, if you're not sure just don't take them.

You say you picked libs you definately identified? Well....munch those and leave the ones your not sure about.

Happy hunting

I cannot ID those, but I have to say, that first picture is really cool. Definitely a Bell-Shaped cap.

Cool finds, good luck on the ID.
