I think you mean decriminalization.

Delegalization would probably mean for it to stop being legal.

Wow, imagine you can be caught with 0.003 grams of LSD by a cop and you walk away a free man. That's freedom baby.

No it's not. It's decriminalization. Freedom is walking into a police station and reporting a theft of your 10 vials of liquid acid and getting full cooperation from the pigs.

Got me there.

I guess compared to American drug policy, this Russian decriminalization seems like freedom when it's really just a little more freedom.

I think you probably get a hefty fine though, just not jail time or a criminal record.

According to this site,

Quote:

President Vladimir Putin signed an amendment to the Criminal Code in December stipulating that possession of no more than 10 times the amount of a "single dose" would now be considered an administrative infraction rather than a criminal offense. Punishment would be a fine of no more than 40,000 rubles ($1,380) or community service.

Maybe it's a ploy to get the rest of the "drug-restricted" world into Russia. It sounds good though. They should do that here in the U.S.

it's probably a ploy to make money.. they get everyone used to doing these drugs again, and then BAM they crack down on it with harsher fines

That doesn't make sense, because LSD isn't addictive.

Uhh, no, they didn't add the fines after decriminalizing the drugs... it was done at the same time, under the same bill.

Do you actually know for a fact that the fines are harsher now than before the drugs were decriminalized?

the police are pretty corrupt in russia...even just going the speed limit but having another country's license plate on your car, they'll still pull you over and ticket you for no apparent reason.

oh by the way, for all those americans wanting to go there...the visas to get in are not only expensive but strict as hell

Where did you read that?  (Urban Legend)

I think 1 - 10 grams (including carrier weight) constitutes a felony with five year mandatory mimimum.  Under that, I'm pretty sure is determined by dosage units of a certain amount of weight (of course including carrier weight).

Of course it's an urban legend. The penalties for LSD seem way harsher than any manslaughter charge.

Look at Pickard and Apperson. How often do you hear of anyone getting 60 years or life in prison without parole for manslaughter?
