i would have to say those are accurately identified as brownish mushrooms in a shitty out of focus picture. Thats the best i can do.

Agree. 99% sure they're hypholoma fasciculare.

They are not Conocybe cyanopus. Most likely you have never seen one. The stems are watery cler white and they grow no higher than 3" and they do not grow cepitose otr in clusters, only singularly and have a blue bulbous basse.

They are n either a Galerina, a Naematoloma or an Agrocye. But they are not magic.

OK first of all, those are obviously NOT Cyanescens...

but more importantly - something that nobody here has adressed yet - is that heatonik plucked that whole damn cluster (along with its mycelium) right out the patch!

If those had been Cyanescens, you would have just made a cardinal NO-NO...

SCISSORS! Until you can master the twist-n-pull method, i highly suggest you bring scissors with you on your hunts.

That doesn't make any sense. If you know what a cyanescen looks like couldn't you have just told you're friend when you saw the pics that you uploaded?

What's wrong with pine needles? They grow in pine needles fine so long as there are woodchips in there.
