Slow Colonizing Bottom
    #4795258 - 10/12/05 08:54 PM (19 years, 3 months ago)

I have some mexican cube's, and at the bottom of my half pint brf/verm jar it hasnt colonized completly. For the past 5 days almost theres been a brownish tinted patch of uncolonized area. its maybe bout' the size of a mishapen quarter.

I'm waiting to dunk it, but if it doesnt colonize, should i proceed to dunking it?

Have you tried turning the jars upside down?

i heard that you flip to let the c02 drain, but no significant amounts of 02 enter until you flip the jar back to right side up, that way when the colonized substrate slides down to the bottom once again, it pulls in some fresh 02. just make sure you avoid contaminated areas when doing this, and it helps if ur substrate had a top layer of dry verm to prevent contams from getting to the substrate
