WBS Dried Out?
    #4793115 - 10/12/05 01:58 PM (19 years, 3 months ago)

This is my first time with WBS in 1/2 pint jars with polyfil filters in the lids. I pressure cooked 12 of them on 10/6 and inoculated them after they cooled. After a couple days they were really colonizing fast but now they've slowed down a lot. When I shake the jars it sounds like the birdseed is dry, yet it is still expanded like it was after pressure cooking. Should I re-hydrate my jars with a couple CCs of sterilized water in each one from my syringes? The syringes don't have spores in them but they've been prepared with boiling water on the stove.

you could but i have never done this. it sounds like a big pain in the ass because you won't be able to hydrate the seed evenly.

Either that or maybe I need to pay attention to the words in your sig. It has only been 6 days since I inoculated the jars. I think I'll wait a few more days and if they haven't shown any improvement I'll re-hydrate them.
