Credit Card Tips
    #4792938 - 10/12/05 01:26 PM (18 years, 3 months ago)

I am planning on getting my own credit card soon. I am pretty new to all this, so I was wondering for those of you who your own credit cards, if you have any advice or input? I don't know why but I am like paranoid about having my own card because I've heard all these negative things about credit cards mostly, haha. But the main reason I want one ofcourse its to build my credit history, since I have none.

Buy all your grow equipment with it. And lots of spore prints.

And seeds.

DON'T USE CREDIT CARDS.

That's all you need to know.

Pay off the balance every month. Don't use it for stupid, small purchases. Everytime I See some fat-cow at McDonalds using her (no doubt, high balance) credit card, I want to ask if shes going to be getting between 3.9 and 19.9% food every month for using it. It's just a stupid idea to pay interest when you don't have to.

Make sure you aren't being raped with the interest rate.

You probably don't want a large credit line if it's your first card.

Use the damn thing responsibly, don't pay minimum payments. Don't buy crap you don't need and can't afford.

The reason credit cards have a bad name is because of stupid/careless people, if you can handle your spending habits responsibly you shouldn't have a problem.

I only use them for hotels, airline and internet purchases.

Use the card for whatever you want, just don't spend more money (less a few thousand dollars padding for when your car breaks down or whatever) than you have in the bank and pay it off every month.

Just to reiterate:
Yes, mosdef pay the balance off in full every month. YOu won't have to pay ANY interest if you do that.

If you can, get one with beginning credit limit of under $500. Work your way up slowly, until you know you've a handle on your finances.

It is imperative that you are controlled with your cash before you even think about applying for a credit card, or you'll end up in debt within a few months.

Don't get a card for your favorite store. A gas station card might work if you can only use it there. I mean how much can you actually buy at a gas station?? That might be the best way to build up yur credit until you can get something like a visa or discover.

Yes you can use a charge card if your going through a bondsman. Thats why I like having one. If something bad happens I don't have to call mom and dad and beg and cry for them to get me out. I just call the bondsman and pay with my master pimp.

"in times of widespread chaos and confusion, it has been the duty of more advanced human beings - artists, scientists, clowns, and philosophers - to create order. In such times as ours however, when there is too much order, too much m management, too much programming and control, it becomes the duty of superior men and women and women to fling their favorite monkey wrenches into the machinery. To relieve the repression of the human spirit, they must sow doubt and disruption"

Only if you don't have any self control. Think of it as a test.

Hmm..thanks for the tips.

To build ones credit, it does not matter how often you use the card right? I mean let's say I only use the card once a month(just as example) and if i can pay that off every month my credit history will be good. or if i spend more and pay all of it off is my credit history excellent or still as good? does this make sense?? lol

As long as you keep the payments up to date, you should be fine. But there's the rub. As Zippoz said, it's all too easy to let things get out of control. Take care with those things!

also, do some looking ,and comparing, before you fill out anything.
To many inquiries, will hurt your chance of a good rate card.
Have you got your free credit report this year. Your entitled
to a free one once a year, but dont get suckered by one of those
sound alike( for charge ) sites.

Money control is different from self control.

don't go on a shopping spree or rely on it in anyway.
Emergency only for bills or gas.

fuck it whatever...

debt sucks... don't get sucked in.

i only use it for small amounts (its not stupid unless you do it all the time, to whoever said it was stupid) so i can easily pay it off at the end of the month...
