I guess it depends on the nature of the thread.
IMHO UFO's threads can be debated in this forum as an "Unobservable", a topic of the philosophy of science.
Debating about if we are alone in the universe or if there's another life form more intelligent than us, are examples of philosophical questions. I don't see why they shouldn't be debated in this forum.
Of course this is a tricky subject but i think most UFO's believers will be posting at S&M.

Something to note:
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/4780720/an/0/page/0 This thread OBVIOUSLY intends to be a launching pad for a debate, and it was, until someone moved it to spirituality, where you're not allowed to question people's beliefs. The thread has died.
The science and technology forum is fairly slow. The vast majority of the threads are about computer issues. Saying that threads regarding the discussion of UFOs belong with the computer discussions, as opposed to where all the similar debates are just makes no sense at all.
Moving them to spirituality just kills them.
I think the forums should be rebranded to "S&P: Debates" and "S&P: Soapbox".
This allows for people to talk about junk science and other things that are spiritual but whose proponents think are scientific.

Actually, I can see S&T growing if we started moving UFO threads into there. Just because it's slow now doesn't mean it necessarily has to be.

I don't think this is tricky at all. It's all pretty plain and simple to me. Phred, Paradigm and Veritas all outlined it rather clearly.
And Phluck, speaking of the names of both forums, are we going to see the title of this forum fixed to P&R?

Even if it grows, it's still a much more ridiculous combination of things than aliens & philosophy. The discussion in almost all the threads is a debate about the nature of evidence and belief. This fits in pretty damn well with discussions of philosophy, but doesn't fit in at all with how to configure apache.
I don't really see the point of splitting things up. It just takes the discussion away from all the threads where similar discussions are happening, and sticks them in a much less frequented forum.

It was i the one not making myself clear. I was referring to the considerations on moving UFO threads to S&M, this has also implications on old UFO threads rebirth at P&R.
This also serves as an answer to Phluck. Although the thread creator wanted to debate this subject, only you and Diploid did constructive observations about it. Meanwhile, let's be calm and let the two forums take its course, things still need to be tuned and discussed among the staff, if possible ....

I didn't think my posts were THAT bad... and I don't see how that makes any difference. He wanted skeptics to reply, and he got several.

The problem is most of the UFO threads are simply proving or disproving the existance of ETs. This is a scientific subject. There is even a speculative branch of biology dedicated to alien life forms: exobiology. If there is a philosophical or spiritual spin I would say it belongs, but if it is another prove or disprove it belongs squarely in S&T. Such threads have even less relevance to S&M (couldn't you guys have thought a little better name?). I also would elect to create a separate forum for the UFO nuts...uh I mean UFO proponents to gather in and discuss.
