someone in some thread made a comment to the degree that PBS and NPR are left leaning news broadcasts.
While I would agree to this statement in domestic matters like welfare, education, abortion, politics in general, da da da....
I would disagree on an important basis. To use the term Leftist fist implies that a set spectrum of politics exist. In fact it does, it is the spectrum of politics which exist as the realm of established possiblilities. PBS does not however lean outside this realm. Especially on matters concerning war, and international politics and business. PBS is no place for truely radical politics, and it never will be as long as half its funding comes from ADM, Monsanto, Chevron, the list goes on and on......
The political spectrum in this nation is lacking any real diversity when it comes to foreign policy.

The only 'good' concerning Public Broadcasting in theory is that they're supported by the 'Public'. I know locally, NPR holds fund raising drives bi-anually...and this theoretically allows them to reduce their beholdance to corporations and thusly to increase the spectrum of ideas that can slip through the net of 'censorship' (which is effectively the filter of propoganda).
Realistically, just like in politics, Public Broadcasting does take 'donations' from Corporate 'Individuals' which means that they're largely restricted to the poltically correct information. But this does not mean that all of the information is politically homogenous, just as our government is largely compose of corrupt representatives who are more beholdant to corporate interests than their theoretical popular constituency...there are exceptions. And some Public Broadcasting is more 'corrupted' by the sway of corporate donations than others.

I think there is definately an anti-war sentiment resounding through the left. Let's take a look at how our foriegn policy has shifted throughout the past 15 or so years.
Under Reagan we had Grenada, and a hundred other similar sending of the troops to rescue American citizens from foriegn law enforcement. We had Iran-Contra. Under Bush, we had the Persian Gulf War. Under eight years of Clinton we had 2 seperate attacks on American embassies and the bombing of the World Trade Center. We had 0 retaliation other than sending some symbolic cruise missiles. We had events like Kosovo in which troops were sent but no fighting was really done.
Under Bush Jr., we've had this whole mess.
Even on this board, I'd be willing to bet that those in favor of the current war lean more toward the right in most facets of political ideologies, foriegn and domestic, and an equal sentiment of anti-war coming from the Left.
